Setting a fixed starting date for a schedule of multiple weeks

The default option for the starting date of a schedule is the start of employment date of the employee to whom the schedule applies.

For schedules that span multiple weeks, it is necessary to set a fixed start date for the schedule rather than using the employee’s employment start date. This ensures that Week 1 begins on the same date for all employees to whom the schedule applies.

This approach is particularly useful for organizations that operate with night shifts and/or rotating shift work.

  • Go to ‘Settings (gear icon top right)’ ⇒ ‘Master data’ ⇒ ‘Schedules’, and select the pencil icon next to the schedule in question.
  • Check the box for ‘Used fixed start date’.
  • Choose a date as starting date using the calendar. Always choose a start date that is earlier than the date upon which the schedule will be applied to the employee.
